The ruling National Democratic Congress has described as cowardice, Dr Mensa Otabil’s condemnation of the use of his sermons for political purposes.
Propaganda Secretary of the NDC, Richard Quashigah in an interview with XYZ News, said Dr Otabil’s reactionary news conference at which he chastised the NDC for using selected portions of his sermons to fight the main opposition NPP’s free SHS policy casts him in the mould of double standards.
“Is he denying that those were his voices and if he is saying that those were messages that he delivered many years ago it is a bit curious because when did Ghanaians start talking about free SHS.
“It was just recent that Nana Akufo-Addo started talking about free SHS so what warranted Mensa Otabil to deliver such messages at a time he claims he delivered them.
“I find this whole thing very embarrassing and I think it is a cowardly behavior” Richard Quashigah said.
Meanwhile, the main opposition NPP has concurred with Dr Otabil’s outbursts at the ruling party over what he described as the criminal manipulation of his sermon.
Deputy Communications Director of the NPP Yaw Buaben Asamoah speaking to XYZ News said Dr. Otabil’s anger at the NDC is justified.
He stated that the way the NDC has politicized the comments by Dr. Otabil shows the extent to which the NDC has driven their campaign into the gutter.
