Opposition political parties have kicked against the ongoing Parliamentary process to endorse the creation of some new constituencies across the country.

The Parties – NPP, PNC and the CPP have stated that they will only hold primaries for the 45 newly created constituencies after the court rules on the issue which has been dragged to court by some individuals.

Leadership of Parliament is however making frantic efforts to beat time to ensure that the Constitutional Instrument is passed to facilitate the creation of the constituencies by the Electoral Commission.

Already the names of the new constituencies to be created have pop out and the ruling political party, NDC has indicated its preparedness to hold primaries in the new constituencies.

The story is however different among the other political parties in opposition.

The NPP’s national organizer, Moctar Bamba in an interview with XYZ News, said the party will only initiate processes to conduct primaries when the court rules on the matter.

The communications director of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) Nii Armah Akomfrah did not mince words in condemning the creation of the constituencies describing it as unthinkable, the decision to create constituencies less than five months to elections.

Meanwhile, the PNC’s national Organizer, George Wilson also stated that the conditions for creating new districts must be looked at again because the creation of new constituencies over burdens the natonal purse.
